A very important passage of scripture is found in Ephesians chapter 5 and describes the Christ-centered relationship meant to be experienced and lived out between a man and his wife. How are we truly meant to understand this relationship and why is it so important to God that we do?

Well, the scripture tells us exactly why! Christ gave himself for the church out of great love for her and desire to be with her; to bring people back to God through Himself. It is not natural for us to treat others as we would treat ourselves, though this is what the Word of God tells us. We can always strive to treat others this way but are we even aware of our own self treatment, truly?

Can a man love his neighbor and despise himself? Verse twenty-nine refers to the reality that no man who despises himself, could love his own flesh.
